Mike and Mary's yurt in Hatfield, MA
Many thanks to Jessie, Scott, and Bruce for helping with the project.
Yurt manufactured by Tuckamore Yurts in Newfoundland. We got a lot of help from Greg Grant, the owner of the company. Yurts normally do not come with screen doors, but we asked Greg to make one for us and it's been well worth it.

The floor took one day to assemble. Northampton Lumber was very helpful in providing the correct materials, after Connecticut lumber places said the 2x6x12' tongue-and-groove floorboards could not be obtained. The special footing blocks designed to hold a 4x4 post were located at Lowe's.

Nicely crated and ready to drive up to the campsite, the yurt fit perfectly in the back of my 1989 Dodge W250 pickup.

The already framed door goes up first. The lattice wall is shown lying in a pile on the floor. If you look carefully to the left of the door you can see our dog, Strafe, trying to get the rope away from Bruce.

The wall, suspension cable, center ring, and roof supports all went up fast.

This dog has rope on the brain.

Securing the dome, what a view.

This shot is right in the front door. The windows provide excellent visibility and ventilation.
